Congratulations to Imer Santiago, who received The Osceola County 2017 Rookie Arts Teacher of the Year Award on Thursday, April 20, during The Annual Arts Alive performance event, held at Poinciana H.S. There are two Rookie Arts Teacher of the Year Awards, Imer received the “Secondary Education” version for grades 6-12. In addition to a beautiful plaque, Imer was given a $200 stipend and a two-day all expenses paid stay at the renowned Gaylord Palms Resort & Hotel in Kissimmee, FL, just several minutes away from Walt Disney World.

When asked about his latest award, Imer responded, “I didn’t expect to receive anything tonight, but to be recognized by your district and fellow colleagues is truly appreciated and feels good. I am very grateful!”

Imer now will focus his energies on preparing his top H.S. Jazz Ensemble, OCSA Jazz A, for their upcoming NYC performance at Lincoln Center for the 22nd Annual Essentially Ellington Competition & Festival.

Congrats again to Imer Santiago!
